"The Lord will work out His plans for my life." (Psalm 138:8a, NLT)
Little 4-year-old Jude brought me a drinking glass full of blue water and some unrecognizable white gooey stuff. "Come on, Mimi," he said excitedly. "Let's go make some bubbles."
"What is this, Jude?" I queried, raising the glass to my nose.
"Don't drink it! It's bubble sauce," Jude explained.
The glass was clearly full of blue Listerine and something else. I walked to the bathroom and saw lotion squirted on the floor and counter so I assumed the white gooey stuff was lotion. "What are you doing, Jude?" I again questioned, not too pleased that I would need to clean the bathroom.
"I'm making bubbles."
"Big problem, honey. Neither mouthwash nor lotion make bubbles. Why are you trying to make bubbles?"
"I want to freeze the bubbles so they will last forever," Jude responded.
"Well, I will help you make some bubbles in the sink and you can play with them, but we can't freeze them." I proceeded to fill the sink with water and shampoo (that's all I could think of at the moment). We did get a lot of bubbles and Jude had fun for a few minutes.
The thought occurred to me that often I'm like Jude. I think I know what to do about a situation. I think I can come up with a solution or find the answers on my own. Just when I think I've got it all figured out, something inevitably pops up to remind me that I am totally helpless on my own.
I'm so thankful that the Lord has the answer to every situation I face. He will work His plans in my life. He knows the right way to make "bubble sauce"!
I am not skilled to understand
What God has willed, what God has planned,
I only know at His right hand
Stands One who is my Savior.
I take Him at His word and deed.
Christ died to save me this I read,
And in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior.
